IPA Personnel are currently seeking a Communications Officer for our Rockhampton Clients busy team.

This position is available to commence ASAP and the successful applicant will be employed by IPA on a labour hire basis. There are competitive rates on offer, which will be discussed at the interview stage.

In the role of Communications Officer, you will provide strategic communication services to technical and professional staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management in relation to the business's projects.

Accountabilities include:

  • Coordinate community engagement for projects in the district, including providing project managers with ongoing strategic communications advice, and developing and implementing communication strategies.
  • Develop strategies for stakeholder management and consult with a wide range of interest groups.
  • Provide communication advice and support to the District Director, managers and other district staff in the areas of media and issues management, risk assessment, community engagement and communication strategies using appropriate communication tools for the projects.
  • Manage the preparation of communications materials, including researching and writing media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes and others for projects.
  • Develop, plan and manage key communication activities such as displays, expos, engagement activities, road commissioning, media opportunities and other events as required.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies, activities, procedures and policies that assist the district to achieve its strategic objectives.
  • Provide advice and support to district staff to enhance communication skills and improve relationships with key stakeholders and the community in the delivery of projects and initiatives.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in a strategic communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector.
